Curiosity, Imagination, and Creativity
Semester 1: Rwandan GEnocide Assessment
Reflection: During this project, I was able to effectively place myself in the same horrifying situation as a Tutsi during the Rwandan Genocide and imagine what my life would have been like before, during, and after the genocide. I was able to create and use specific details in order to write the paragraphs, as well as put myself in the Tutsi's shoes and wonder about what my situation would have been like had I actually lived during this time. By learning how to access my creativity during this project, I was able to imagine many things that enabled me to further write the paper. However, there were still some aspects of this skill and project that I would have liked to improve upon. I would like to further develop applying facts as well as creativity into my writing and be able to combine them into a mixture that will make my writing both believable and moving. I'd also like to be able to get more into the character of those that I'm writing about and truly feel that I'm living what they felt through my writing. In order to improve upon these skills, I will have to adapt to being able to include both facts and my imagination into a written piece and blend them together to accomplish a well-written and factual paper. I will also have to learn to use more descriptive devices in my writing in order to make it more refined and easy to follow.

Semester 2: Spanish 1 Birthday Book
Reflection: Please note that this assignment was one of four from another class, not Global Studies. This particular project was from a Spanish 1 course. For this assignment, my partner "Carmen" and I were required to write a book about a recent or made up birthday celebration entirely in Spanish, since this is a Spanish course, while using the vocabulary about celebrations that we had recently acquired. We had to write sentences describing the actions we would do at a birthday party and draw/print off pictures to help describe the actions taking place. During this project, we were able to be creative in the actions that our characters undertook (from buying a video game to screaming at a clown), and were curious about the different verb forms to use and how to conjugate them depending on the person/situation. We were also able to use imagination in our sentences and the overall plot of the story. I was able to effectively be curious in the verb forms we were using and asking the teacher when I was unsure of an answer or also effectively use my resources, such as a reliable translating site. We were also able to be imaginative in the subjects of our sentences, for birthday subjects may seem a bit plain and repetitive, but we were still able to be creative to where we were unique and set ourselves apart from the rest of the groups. In the future with other assignments, I hope to be able to incorporate creativity into the required materials of any project and stretch my imagination to further lengths by exploring new ideas and viewpoints and remaining thorough in my information comparative to my creativity.
