Agility and Adaptability
Semester 1: Iceman Assessment
Reflection: Before taking this assessment, my class had done extensive research on the Iceman's discovery and death. This assessment revolved around explaining how the Iceman's discovery related to each of the social sciences. By completing this assessment, I was able to clearly look at a complex situation involving all of the aspects of the Iceman's known existence, form my own opinion about how it related to each of the social sciences, and then research the topic extensively. For each piece of information that went against my viewpoint about the Iceman, I would adjust my overall stance on the matter so that it could adapt and correspond with any needed qualifications or information in the end. In order to have my theory make sense, I had to examine many articles about the Iceman and adjust what I already knew to fit with new information. This information would then satisfy both the factual side of the argument, and the overall believable side. Although I was able to accomplish all of these tasks, I would still like to improve upon my ability to see deeply into both sides of a delicate situation. I would also like to improve upon being able to identify and pick out the important pieces of a topic in order to then alter my belief so that it applies in the situation. In order to improve this skill, I will have to practice looking at both sides of a situation and train my brain not to jump to conclusions on important matters until I have factual evidence to overall support or disprove it.

Semester 2: Physics Honors Wind Turbine Presentation
Reflection: Please note that this assignment was one of four from another class, not Global Studies. This particular project was for a Physics Honors course. In this assignment, with a group, we were required to pretend that we were in charge of a wind energy company that had to convince a town/energy supplier to install our wind turbines in their city. In order to accomplish this task, my group was also required to research the different aspects of a wind turbine, including the history, how they work, and the market for wind energy. My group was effectively able to create the Devonshire Anemoi Wind Company, or DAWCs, and present our wind turbine presentation to our physics class. Throughout working on this project, I was able to use agility and adaptability to divvy up the parts of the project (research, PowerPoint, model, etc.) to work with my partners' strengths to accomplish the overall goal in an effective manner. Whenever a roadblock came up with the research or actual presentation, I was able to be flexible in priorities and how to accomplish certain tasks. Overall, I was able to adequately adapt the information I encountered in my research to fit what was required of the presentation and assure all of my group members were involved with their topics and felt they were an important part of our group. I was able to be precise in the discovery and explanation of my information and agile in converting my newfound knowledge into something persuasive and understandable. When my group members were concerned about how we were supposed to go about presenting, I was nimble in creating a script that we edited together to allow our presentation to adapt to the requirements that our teacher had explained. If I were to encounter a project like this in the future, I hope to be able to automatically adapt my presentation to the requirements without excessive information that distracts from the main topic, which I tend to have an excess supply of. I would also like to become more flexible in my standing on an idea, because once I decide on an idea I'm rather stubborn about moving from that standpoint. I hope to improve upon listening to others' ideas and adapting my ideas based on their advice by knowing I can rely on others and still succeed and understanding that most of the time, two heads are better than one and adapting to a difficult situation is part of life.
